Apologies for not posting yesterday its been a long, hot and hectic weekend. Anyway I'm back today with your weekly bangers. I've gone for a kinda summery number to start off with today and well it might not be a banger as such but its definitely a tune you should have a good listen too.
As I said this is a real summer tune from Zedd, its called "Spectrum" expect to hear it a fair few times this summer. Its just a track you cant help but bop your head too. I was out sunbathing over the weekend and this was right at the top of my playlist. Its not particularly dubstep or drum and bass, its kinda electro/house, its definitely good though. Check it out here.
From one Zedd to another now, well in style anyway. This next track is totally different from the previous with its summery feel. This is a remix of a really mellow and chilled song by a relatively unknown producer called CRNKN, the songs is titled "Purity Ring" and is originally by Obedear? (nah me neither?). The addition of a really heavy and pulsating bassline give the song some resonance, this one where you need to plug it into your sound system and crank the bass up to really enjoy the tune. Very reminiscent of Zeds Dead and some of his tunes and mixes, fans will know exactly what I mean. It'll have your whole house wobbling!
That's your lot this week. For my English readers get out and enjoy the sun, we don't get much of it!

Knife Party - Rage Valley EP Review
It's here at last, the much awaited Rage Valley EP from Knife Party. Set for release on Monday I think, this is one you'll want to get your hands on. It'll be available on iTunes and Beatport.
Anyway onto the actual EP, its got 4 tracks so pretty standard. The first track is the title track and it has a bit of an electro feel to it, that is until it drops. It's a face melter believe me. A very typical knife party track, with the screams that we have grown to associate with them and love. It's a good set opener in my opinion and anyone lucky enough to be seeing them soon will definitely be hearing it.
"Centipede" the second track has a dubbed in intro with a man prattling on about how deadly centipedes are but after there is another heavy drop but this track is more bassey than the previous and has that deep grizzly sound that I go on about in nearly every post (sorry!), along with again the high pitched "whoops" and other Knife Party sounds. Just their usual unorthodox nuttiness.
The third track "Bonfire" is my favourite, following many other like Skrillex and Rusko, they have gone back to dubs Jamaican roots, well kinda. But this track has the dancehall vocals that many people are now using, but the drop is about as far away from original dub as you'll get. They've done what Skrillex has done a few times taken the original style and jazzed it up. After the ear shattering drop, they're a nice little segment of the track that sounded to me as if it was reminiscent of Pendulums track "Tarantula" which would be quite cool of Rob and Gareth. Probably a massive fucking coincidence knowing me.
The final track is in my opinion the weakest of the four. But that said Moombahton isn't really my thing to be honest with you. It's called "Sleaze" and features Mistajam. For my readers further afar than the fair British Isles, Mistajam is a DJ on the UK's biggest radio station, he regularly does dubstep features and has his musical tastes listed as "Urban". Like me if you're not a fan of Moombahton then this isn't going to set the world on fire but there you go.
So for Knife Party fans you're going to love this just as much as anything else they've put out. Its a good release from them and I really like it. Nothing too different except maybe the last track. But hey if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Weekly bangers 20/05/2012
Busy, busy week. Luckily it all calms down after tomorrow. Anyway on to this edition of weekly bangers and boy have I got a track for you but onto that in a minute. Firstly I have some drum and bass for you guys from Delta Heavy. Regular readers will know they've already featured on here once or twice before. This time they're back with a head banging track that once it goes will have you moving all of the place.
The track is called "End of Days" it featured on UKF just the other day and is available to pre-order. This is a high tempo track with some grizzly bass in the build, drum and bass fans will love this along with quite a few dubstep fans. You can have a listen here. I'm sure you'll like it.
The next track is just pure dubstep. Fans of other genres, not for you, if you like heavy bass then you'll be spunking over this one for weeks. Major Lazer isn't really someone you associate with absolute screamers but with a bit of help from Englishman Flux Pavilion and some oh so typically reggae vocals from Johnny Osborne. If you like reggae you may know him from his popular song "Buddy Bye" (think Sleng Teng Riddim). Anyway the track is called "Mr. Marshall", stick with it and listen to the build which is pretty decent in itself. The drop is just insane, pregnant women and people with heart conditions should not listen. I also love the dubbed in yelp of "FUCK!". Just adds something. You may struggle to find a studio version of this, however but there are copies out there.
Anyway that's it for this week, till next time, enjoy!

Netsky back for more + Bassex
Was sup everyone? Well I had a great response from the weekly bangers post a lot of people liking it and a lot of page views thanks, stand by for the next post next week. So today I thought I'd talk about that young, Belgian drum and bass producer Netsky who is set for his first concerts in just a few weeks. Many of you will know him for his remix of the Rusko track "Everyday" and a very good remix it was too. Today however I'm gonna be talking a remix of a Netsky track, released late last year the track "Come Alive" is a decent track in its own right. But Culture Shock have knocked it up a level with their remix. Adding a more drum and bass feel to it with a faster tempo than the original. Well worth a listen check it out.
Okay, this track just, epic! Not much more you can say about it. I'm sure many if not all of you know the song "Daydream" by I Monster. I'm also sure that a fair amount of you know that Lupe Fiasco released a remixed version of the song. But what I'm fairly sure not many of you know is that Bassex released yet a further remix of that track. Fuck me, when it goes, boy does it go. Just listen to it you'll like it trust me!
Finally this week I'm happy to announce the opening of the Bass Junkie shop on Spreadshirt for all of you're dubstep gear. More will be added over the coming weeks and months so keep checking back!

Weekly Bangers 14/05/2012
OK all you dub lovers, I've decided to introduce a new weekly post featuring my favourite bangers of the week. This doesn't necessarily mean tracks that have been released that week just banging tunes we should all have a listen to, so don't email me bitching about when a track was released.
So onto the first of many weekly bangers. Now after reviewing Rusko's new album in my last post I've rekindled my love with the old skool reggae dub, so with that in mind, my first track for you this week comes from Kaba. The tracks called Bad Boys ft. Damian Marley (who else). Skrillex and Knife Party fans this is one for you, it has the Skrillex style snare along with Knife Party's "Whoops" from various tracks. It's a really good track to just nod your head too.
My second banger for you this week is one from a relatively unknown artist. The track is Njomza - Nightmare (Atlis Remix), this isn't one for the faint hearted, stick out for the drop which is sick enough to make you shit your pants. It's a nice wobbly build that could quite easily make a nice track on its own, then Atlis got hold of it and tore it apart. Absolute eye watering, filth and best of all its available for free download here. Get it while its hot.
That's if for this weeks bangers. Keep it bass and keep it heavy.

Rusko - Songs Review
Busy, busy week for me, there's a lot going on. Today I'm going to review an album that has been out for a little while now and its the latest release by Rusko. Now I'm not going to lie it won't be to everyone's taste and it is a bit different to everything else out there.
This album is something very different and Rusko has attempted to take dubstep back to its Jamaican roots, this has led to many of the tracks having a more progressive and melodic sound rather than ear drum blowing basslines. This is very apparent in the tracks with the reggae vocals, the tracks Skanker, Mek More Green and Love No More. I did say this wouldn't be to everyone's taste. The heavy reggae influence will put a lot of people off.
That said, there are many differing tracks on the album, Opium is more a recent Rusko style track, along with Dirty Sexy and Roll Da Beats, although the later again has the dancehall style lyrics. There are also more dance and electro style songs on the album like Pressure and Thunder which break the whole thing up nicely. I must say the comically titled Asda Car Park is one of my favourites, very Rusko with the almost sinister sounding beat. Then again a total change with Whistle Crew, having a garage twist to it, its a very contrasting album and I think that what Rusko has attempted to do is highlight the progression of dub since its original Jamaican beats through to garage and then the more recent dance style tracks.
It's a ballsey album from Rusko and has certainly been controversial. BBC Music's review was very critical of the whole album and although I can understand where the writer is coming from I think its very much dependant on your taste. Mainstream dubbers and those looking for the next face melter, steer well clear. Personally, being a huge reggae fan, I love it, with Skanker and Love No More amongst my favourites. Good effort Mr. Rusko.
8/10

Tomba and Loadstar
Whats up everyone, I hope you're all having a good week. So this week I have an EP review and another banging track for you to sink you're teeth into. Firstly, Tomba released his EP "Time To Slam" earlier this week, so I thought I'd give you a little run down of it.
Its a 5 track EP although if you have "Borgore's Misadventures In Dubstep" its a 3 track EP as the tracks "Kneeyan" and "Wanna Feel Good" featured on that. The first track is a fast tempo job featuring rapper Inja, I actually like the track is has a real Tomba feel to it, fans of his previous releases will know exactly what I mean. The second track on the EP is my favourite its entitled "Spanish Lullaby" and the track just explodes in your ears. High energy, gritty and again fast paced, it certainly packs a punch and will get people throwing all sorts of nutty shapes when its dropped. I'll move on to "You And Me" as the other two I spoke about in the review of Borgore's album. This moves back into the standard dubstep tempo and has the Borgore style gritty bass wobble that you associate with these two. Another good track. So overall it's a good release from Tomba who certainly has a following, fans be sure to get hold of this.
Rating: 8/10
Now onto the other part of this post. This time I have a drumstep track for you. Now I am fully aware of what drumstep is don't get all dicky about it, for the purposes of this blog drumstep is that grey area between drum and bass and dubstep. This week its artist Loadstar and his release "Second Skin". It's a really good track that is set to be released on RAM Records and again its one that will really get the crowd pumping. He makes good use of some very popular synths on the scene at the moment and I'm sure if you give it a listen you won't be able to stop nodding your head.
That's your lot peeps, next time exciting news about some Bass Junkie merchandise, eyes peeled.

Drum n Bass in your face
Its been a while people. Mainly because well there isn't a lot flying around at the minute. But UKF (as always) have provided me with some dirty drum n bass to get all of you ravers going.
Now in a previous post a few back you may have remembered that I mentioned a track by Fred V and Grafix? Well they're back with a new release that once again I really enjoy. But first I have an old school track for you 1st gen Drum n Bass and Jungle lovers. This track will certainly take you back with the sirens and and unorthadox nature. Think Machete by DJ Hazard and you won't be far wrong. This is Aeph - Highway Thirteen and it is a very original track in style and rhythm, brings back some good and "fuzzy", shall we say, memories.
Now onto Fred V and Grafix and they're back with a remix of a track by Rudimental. the track is called "Feel the Love" yes I know it sounds like a dodgy pop song but just trust me. I wouldn't call it a summer track really cause the overall feel of the song isn't exactly upbeat but its certainly a track to get you going. It went straight onto my running play list. I'm bobbing back and fourth in my chair right now listening to it.
OK for you gritty dubstep lovers this is a track for you, first played by Skream and Benga the other night so you might struggle to find it but it called "Invite the Future" by Northern Lights, the drop is deep, heavy and dark. Black Sun Empire springs to mind, if you can find it well worth a listen. Overall its a solid track from a very underrated outfit.
That's your dose of bass for now. Till next time...Get Down!!!
