Modestep and Borgore

Whats up everyone, I know its been a while since my last post, a busy week and weekend. So all the talk in the dubstep world at the moment is about Modestep's latest track "Show Me A Sign", which to be totally honest I'm not sure whether I like. The video is just fucking bizzarre, I can understand what they're getting at but it really is odd. The song itself is typical Modestep with Josh's vocals adding some depth to the track, the stammered screams and the grizzly bass underneath. Fans of Modestep will love it, I think it is a solid release just not too sure whether its for me.

The other big news in the dubstep world is that Borgore is set to release his album "Borgore's Misadventures in Dubstep" (weeks after releasing the "Flex" EP). I was personally a bit disappointed with the Flex EP, it was all too similar for me. And that's where at the moment Borgore divides the dubstep world, half would like him to push the boat the out and try something new, the other half are happy for him to continue to churn out his unique brand of filth. Whatever the Israeli producer comes out with will no doubt raise eyebrows.

To Drum n Bass now and this track is from Fred V & Grafix who are relatively well known in their respective field. But their latest track had a play on Radio 1 the other day which was massive for them and I can see why. This track has a real good feel about it and its great for them to finally be hitting the right chord with a bigger audience check it out the tracks called "Just A Thought".

Right that's it for now, keep your eyes peeled, I'll be back with a review of Borgore's new Album when I get my hands on it. Peace.

Latest dose of filth

Ok short one for you guys today cause its been a busy weekend and I am shattered. I managed to keep my eyes open long enough to hear Document One's newest track with a couple of featuring artists. Its a great track and I really think your gonna love it, Document One just get better and better, I said earlier that I think their mix of Flex by Borgore was a winner, this latest release shows just how far they've come.

Check it out on their youtube, its well worth a listen. Night all.

Flex this

What's up everyone, I apologise I haven't posted all week its been a busy one for myself. All the talk in the dubstep world this week has been about Borgore's latest EP - Flex, which is free to download from his Buygore site. Now fans of Borgore will know that he has been churning out pure filth since his appearance on the scene. His obscene lyrics and chest rattling bass have made him a real hit amongst some, whereas other can't stand him. Personally I think he's a real character and any industry needs characters.

On to his EP anyway, now I'm probably not gonna make any friends here but to be totally honest its a pretty standard release from him. 3 versions of he title track flex and another song Kiss My Lips make up the EP and its just the same stuff from Borgore, they say sex sells but is there a point where you can only milk something so far? I'd just like to see him release something different and really give it a go. Fans will love it because its so typically Borgore, nothing new, that's not to say its a bad release its not. Just nothing that's gonna set the world alight. However the Document One mix of Flex is a sick track, I really like it and it's good to see Document One back doing what they do best: making fucking awesome mixes.

Finally today the track Overjoyed by Bastille has been mixed by Distance. The track is a real dark one, for those who like Black Sun Empire and Emalkay and as such this is for you. Great tune. That's it for now bass junkies, till next time.

UKF & Stuff

Right today I have a couple of tracks that have been released on UKF's pages on youtube. Now I'm sure all of you are familiar with UKF, a fantastic channel on youtube set up by a lad whose made a real go of the explosion of bass culture in recent years.

Yesterday on their Drum and Bass page they put up a VIP and its an absolute banger from Body & Soul and Fourward. Its the Authority VIP and it has a combination of brutally heavy kicks along with a real dubstep feel to it. I love it, if you like heavy dubstep then you'll love this track, but it appeals to the drum and bass crowd too with its tempo. Solid release for them.

The other track that I want to bring to your attention is another UKF tune, this time a release by Adam F who I've never really got into and to tell you the truth this is a Subscape remix, but whatever. It's more along the electro side of the dubstep spectrum so if you like your beats dark and heavy then this won't be for you, but for fans of Skrillex and alike then you'll like this. The track is titled "When The Rain Is Gone" just get it.

OK now before continuing with this blog let me clear something up. Skrillex has divided opinions within the bass world, people claim that he reuses the same loops, he's a sellout, he's making dubstep too mainstream. Others say he's a pioneer and bringing dubstep to the mainstream stage is a good thing. To be totally honest, I don't give two shits what you think of him. My opinion is that he's a good producer, he's no pioneer and his sound is more along the lines of electro/dubstep I wouldn't say it fits one genre perfectly, if you disagree then keep that to yourself. I saw him in Brixton a few weeks ago and the show was immense, I had a great time and so did everybody else, if you don't like him then don't listen, simple, don't send me shit about how he's a this or a that. End of rant.

More in the days ahead people. Keep those eyes peeled.
